EAST RIVER PARK BANDSHELL

NEW YORK CITY

Replacing and re-envisioning a cultural icon on the Lower East Side waterfront

ARCHITECT

As part of New York City’s post-Sandy resilience program, East River Park is being raised approximately 12 feet from its current elevation. The office was commissioned by the City to design a modern replacement for an Art Deco-style bandshell that was demolished for the new Park. For the new canopy structure, the team worked closely with NYC Department of Parks, local stakeholders, and the general public to reimagine the facility as a waterfront performance venue
